A report on Social Media Today has this morning published that the average user spends 2 hours and 23 minutes each day on social media. With people glued to their phones for so long, shouldn’t your business be present too?The above infographic (from Social Media Today) shows the importance of choosing the right social media platform to promote your business. With the average user spending just three minutes per day on Twitter… are you going to get the engagement you need by simply tweeting?
Your time online should be spent on the platform(s) that your customers are using, so the first consideration – as with all forms of marketing – should be who you are targeting, and the best method to capture their attention.
Following this, it is essential that your posts, tweets or messages are engaging and interesting to your audience… don’t sell to them constantly, or they will turn off. Act like a human, not a bot, and try to ensure that your posts stand out above the noise of information they are likely to consume in their time online.
Social media isn’t going anywhere. It will adapt and change, but it’s here to stay, and therefore, should be an essential aspect of your business’ marketing mix.
